2. Gifts of Endowments

Endowments are a critical part of our success. Privately endowed funds of $1.5 million and more are designated as “Endowed Chairs.” In short, an endowment is a permanent fund established at the University of Arizona Foundation. You may create an endowment with a minimum gift of $25,000. A portion of the interest earned on such funds is used by the MCRP for the purpose you specify. This perpetual fund can be named in honor of your family, a loved one, or another name of your choosing. Gifts of endowed funds serve as a lasting tribute and will help in the fight against cardiovascular disease for generations to come.

How does the MCRP use these funds?

Endowments make it possible for the Molecular Cardiovascular Research Program to recruit or retain internationally recognized scientists whose research is focused on the underlying biological and molecular mechanisms of heart development, disease and other malfunctions of the cardiovascular system.

How can I establish an endowment?

An outright gift of cash, real estate or other appreciable asset of at least $25,000 can create the fund. Endowed funds may also be created through a number of planned giving vehicles. For more information about specific giving tools, levels of endowment, or areas of research in need of support, please contact Thom Melendez in the Office of Development at the UA Sarver Heart Center at 520-626-4146 or 1-800-665-2328, or contact the office at heart@u.arizona.edu.

3. Planned Gift

How can I include the MCRP in my estate plans?

The following suggested testamentary language is for your review and use in providing for a gift to The University of Arizona Foundation for the benefit of the University of Arizona Molecular Cardiovascular Research Program. This language is not intended as legal advice and should be reviewed by independent legal counsel. We also encourage you to contact our office so that we may assist you in the drafting of the language so that it fulfills your wishes and desires.
